In a bid to ensure universal health coverage for all residents, the Awka South Local Government Area has announced a Free Medical Outreach Program in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and local health organizations.
Services to be Provided
The outreach will offer the following services free of charge:
- General health screenings (blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI)
- Malaria testing and treatment
- Deworming for children under 5
- Immunization (polio, measles, hepatitis)
- Family planning counseling
- Free reading glasses for the elderly
- Health education and counseling
Schedule
The outreach will run for two weeks starting from the first Monday of next month. Venues will be announced through community leaders and local radio stations.
The Director of Health, Mrs. Adaobi Nwosu, urged all residents to take advantage of this opportunity.
